The Institute of Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (iRSM) is proud to announce the appointment of Steven Csorba, a longstanding patient of iRSM, to its Board of Directors.

“The appointment of Mr. Csorba truly reflects iRSM’s values when it comes to patient engagement and bringing the patient’s voice to the table. iRSM is one of the few places where a patient is a full member of the board of directors” shared Dr. Hameed Khan, Institute of Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine’s Executive Director. “We are thankful to have Mr. Csorba join our board and help iRSM better serve its patients.”

This is the first time in the institute’s history to have a patient representative on the Board.  Csorba came to iRSM as a patient in 2003; his first-hand experience as a patient will provide insight to further understand the patient journey and bring a different perspective to decision making at the highest level of governance of the institute.

“I am very excited about the unique opportunity in representing a patient empowered perspective on the iRSM board. Coping with cancer, the fear of the unknown as well as the harsh side effects of treatments and rehabilitation is a very challenging process which can take its toll on both your physical and emotional well being,” stated Steven Csorba.

“It is truly an honour to be able to a part of the iRSM team who is dedicated to a patient-centered model of care recognized for its outstanding global leadership in head and neck reconstruction, rehabilitation and research. I look forward in working together to improve the quality of life for patients while advancing state of the art treatment and care for those facing life threatening and debilitating realties.”
