 Jaw reconstruction and rehabilitation
 Jaw reconstruction and rehabilitation
Maxillofacial prosthodontics is a sub-specialty of prosthodontics that is concerned with the maxillofacial reconstruction and oral rehabilitation of persons who have lost oral and/or facial structures as a result of cancer, trauma or were born with missing structures.
The Craniofacial Care Program has been a pioneer in the field of surgical reconstruction and rehabilitation of jaw defects as a result of head and neck cancer and trauma. The maxillofacial prosthodontic work being carried out is surgically driven. The majority of oral and maxillofacial rehabilitation is carried out with osseointegrated implants which are planned in a digital environment.
The Craniofacial Care Program has been in the forefront of innovations in advanced jaw reconstruction. With the advent of pioneering surgical and prosthodontic planning utilizing surgical design and simulation have been able to reduce the management pathway for some patients to around one to two years.
